1. President Buhari Aware, And Approved Magu’s EFCC Investigation

Fresh facts have emerged about the investigation into the activities of the commission of enquiry investigating the activities of Ibrahim Magu as the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Naija News has learnt that President Muhammadu Buhari approved the establishment of the Judicial Commission of Enquiry to investigate the alleged financial mismanagement and abuse of office against Magu.

It will be recalled Magu was picked up by security operatives on July 6, 2020, in front of the Wuse Office of the EFCC and appeared before the panel for several days.

2. Kaduna Government To Recruit 23,000 Workers For Special Operations

The Kaduna State Government has started the inclusion of 23,000 young men and women in the Federal Government Special Public Works Programme (SPW).

The SPW is a Corona support program approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, in which 1,000 people will work from each of the 774 local government areas in the country.

The scheme is expected to be operational from October 1, 2020. Each of the youths will be paid N20,000 per month.

3. Osinbajo Must Be Probed Over Alleged N10bn Withdrawal From TSA – Timi Frank

A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari, to set up an investigative panel of inquiry to investigate the alleged illegal withdrawal of N10billion from the Treasury Single Account.

Frank in a statement in Abuja, pleaded with the president to give the panel a clear mandate to unravel the alleged involvement of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, and the Auditor General of the Federation (AuGF), Anthony Ayine, in the brazen illegality.

The political activist also said he has become extremely worried that the nation is sinking deeper into corruption, with multiple fraud scandals, at a time Nigerians expected to see tangible dividends of the anti-corruption war, which is the foremost object of this administration.

4. Edo 2020: Presidency Accepts Ize-Iyamu Is Corrupt – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the presidency statement on its condemnation of the visit of Osagie Ize-Iyamu to President Muhammadu Buhari is an acceptance that the APC candidate is corrupt.

Buhari had on Friday endorsed Ize-Iyamu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Edo State Governorship election.

Following the endorsement at the Presidential Villa, the PDP had condemned Buhari for backing a candidate that his administration is probing for corruption.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, on Saturday called on the PDP to sack its governors and senators before it would be taken seriously.

The presidency stated that the APC was innocent until proven guilty by a competent court of law.

Reacting in a statement, spokesperson of the PDP, Kola Ologbodiyan, pointed out that the response by the Presidency reinforced allegations by the sacked national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, that Ize-Iyamu is a person of questionable character who is unfit to hold office as governor of Edo state.

5. Ganduje Intends To Support Private School Teachers In Kano

The Kano State Government has announced that it will provide support to teachers and private school staff to alleviate the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, made the announcement while launching the distribution of Coronavirus prevention kits to 538 public and private schools.

Ganduje, who was represented by his deputy, Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, said the owners of the private schools had complained to the government about the challenges faced by their staff as a result of the Coronavirus epidemic.

6. INEC Declares Winner Of Nasarawa Bye-Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Ismail Danbaba as the winner of Saturday’s bye-election for Nasarawa Central state constituency.

He defeated Bage Nuhu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to emerge winner of the election.

Iiyasu Umar, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer declared Danbaba winner after the polls were concluded and votes counted.

7. Buhari Commends Tambuwal And Sultan Over Security In Sokoto

President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the Sokoto State Government and the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, for their commitment to improving security.

The Federal Government commended the Sultan and the Sokoto State Government under the leadership of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for their co-operation in its efforts to end insecurity in the country.

Buhari made the remarks on Saturday while attending the wedding of the Sultan’s daughter, Zainab Fodio, held at the Sultan’s palace in.

The Minister of Justice and Supreme Attorney-General, Abubakar Malami, led the delegation that represented President Buhari at the wedding.

8. COVID-19: Obasanjo Tests Negative To Coronavirus

Nigeria’s former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has tested negative for the deadly COVID-19 infection.

The information on his health status was given by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi on Sunday.

Akinyemi, revealed that the former President took the test on Friday, August 7, at his Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Pent House residence, Okemosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

9. EPL: Willian Confirms Chelsea Exit As Arsenal Move Draws Near

Willian Borges da Silva has confirmed in an open letter on social media that he is leaving English Premier League (EPL) side, Chelsea.

Arsenal are reportedly frontrunners to sign the Brazilian as his contract with the Blues expires later this month.

After Chelsea’s Champions League exit was confirmed on Saturday following the 7-1 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich, Willian has announced that he has played his last game in a Chelsea shirt.

Two housemates in the Big Brother Naija lockdown reality TV show, Eric and Tochi were evicted from the house on Sunday evening.

The housemates were evicted following the final votes from saved housemates.

Four housemates with the least votes, Eric, Kaisha, Tochi, and Trikytee were all up for eviction as confirmed by the host, Ebuka Uchendu.
