The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, on Thursday, disclosed that the Nigerian Railway Corporation has launched a N900 million e-ticketing platform.
The former Governor of Rivers State note that e-ticketing platform is another achievement for the NRC, the Federal Ministry of Transportation and the federal government.
Amaechi stated this at the launch of the e-ticketing in Abuja on Thursday.
He said, “This project which is a Public-Private Partnership is a product of over three years of rigorous procurement process and due diligence involving the NRC, NITDA and finally obtaining approval from the Federal Executive Council.”
“Today marks the beginning of the automation of ticket sales in all our major stations on the Abuja Kaduna train service. This is a total package that also includes access control which will be deployed subsequently.”
“It is my believe that deploying the secured ticketing solution is in line with world best practice, and will enhance efficiency, save time and promote accountability while also reducing leakages and promoting economic growth.”
Naija News had earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday in Abuja directed the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) and related government agencies to plug all revenue leakages by ensuring strict compliance of tax payments by foreign companies operating in Nigeria, urging deployment of more digital platforms and seamless connections.
Speaking, virtually, at the First National Tax Dialogue held at the Conference Hall of the State House, the President ordered all government agencies to automate operations and ensure more synergy in advancing the interest of the nation in revenue generation.
