Three bandits terrorising Dutsinma Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been killed by the Police.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sanusi Buba, made this known on Wednesday during a press briefing at the command headquarters, Katsina.
Displaying the corpses of three suspected armed bandits, Buba said the criminals were killed on Tuesday at about 9 pm, adding that two AK47 rifles with 15 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered.
On how the bandits were killed, Buba said the Area Commander of Dutsinma, Aminu Umar, and his team recorded the success.
Buba added that the team responded to a distress call that bandits numbering over 50 riding on motorbikes and shooting sporadically with AK47 rifles have attacked Unguwar Bera and Tashar Mangoro villages of Dutsinma LGA of the state.
Meanwhile, Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku has lamented the increasing rate of insecurity in Nigeria and the seeming inability of the government in curbing it.
To this end, the Governor on Wednesday proposed that the federal government should allow all Nigerians to bear licensed AK-47 guns to protect themselves.
He noted that if security agents have been unable to secure the life and property of citizens, kidnappings, banditry, and other crimes are on the increase, then a new approach has to be deployed rather than waiting for the day evil will befall one.
Ishaku made the call when 15 Local Government Chairmen in the state paid him a condolence visit following the death of one of their colleagues who was kidnapped and subsequently killed by gunmen.
