In an update to the rules of engagement in gathering people for ceremonies amid the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, prospective couples must now get clearance from Lagos State government to hold weddings with no more than 300 people in attendance.
“Weddings and social gatherings just not exceed 300 people with prior clearance from the Lagos State commission,” partly reads a notice titled ‘stay at home’.
The Director General, Lagos State safety Commission, Lanre Mojola said the state government is worries about large gatherings and weddings as the state experiences hike in the increase of Covid-19 infections.
“If it’s not a big wedding, maybe 50 people, 100 people, we are not really concerned. But if it is a large gathering with 300 people and above, it is mandatory that you get a clearance; no payment whatsoever,” the statement signed by Mojola reads in part.
Aside adding that the clearance is free and all it takes is for prospective couple to input the details of their wedding on the commission website. The safety marshalls will be sent to the venue of such events to enforce all covid protocols to enforce any possible spread of the virus.
