The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday evening, 12th February 2021, confirmed 1,005 new cases of Coronavirus disease infection in Nigeria.

The new cases of COVID-19 infection were confirmed via a statement on the official Twitter handle of the national health agency.

This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to 144,521 which includes 118,866 discharged cases and 1,734 deaths.

Below is the breakdown of the latest cases according to states with Lagos State having the highest number of cases followed by Kwara State.

Meanwhile, the Borno State government has demolished 1,330 houses built along river banks in Maiduguri, to avoid floods.

The Borno State Environmental Protection Agency (BOGIS) started the demolition work on Bama Road to Damboa Road where it destroyed several houses.

During the demolition on Damboa Road, Governor Babagana Zulum said there were a lot of risks in living too close to a river apart from floods.

“People are building on waterways and if nothing is done there will be flooding in the state capital, Maiduguri during the rainy season,” he said.
