The Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari led administration for its initiative with the 774,00 jobs programme across some states in the country.

The revered monarch said the wisdom behind the programs will bring an end to youth restiveness and insecurity in the country.

Naija News understands that Bayero stated this as the Federal Government Special Public Works commences the poverty alleviation programme in Kano State with 44,000 beneficiaries.

According to the Emir, the initiative came at a time when Nigeria is battling with insecurity and uncertainty, adding that the program will in no small measure tackle crimes associated with unemployment.

This online news platform reports that the flag-off ceremony of the program organized by the National Directorate of Employment NDE took place in Kano on Wednesday, January 6 under the supervising minister, Festus Kiyamo.

It could be recalled that the House of Representatives in December 2020, called for the immediate suspension of the Special Works Scheme of the Federal Government.

The recruitment process of 774,000 workers for the scheme for a while has seen the National Assembly and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment clash.

The House during plenary directed the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget, and National Planning not to fund the scheme, which is expected to take off in January 2021.

However, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, on Sunday, disclosed that the Special Public Works Programme which would engage 774,000 workers will kick off across the country on Tuesday.

Keyamo in a post on his Twitter account noted that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the commencement of the initiative.

He tweeted, “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the take-off of the Special Public Works Programme (engaging 774,000 unemployed itinerant Nigerians) to begin nationwide on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021. All NDE state structures are already in top gear for the take-off ceremonies.”
